HUE CITADEL – THE WORTHIEST SIGHT TO VISIT IN HUE

HUE CITADEL’S LOCATION
Hue citadel is located on the northern bank of Perfume river. Nguyen Dynasty decided to build in 1805 after 3 years of studying. On this day, it is the most massive as well as attractive construction within city of Hue.
The Citadel is a complex of three ramparts with 520 ha in area, including Kinh Thanh Hue (Hue Capital City), Hoang Thanh (Hue imperial city) and Tu Cam Thanh ( Hue Forbidden City). When entering into this, tourists will feel likely to be stepped in an old royal life of the Emperor and his family.
HUE CAPITAL CITY
In 1805 the Emperor Gia Long started to build the capital city. Over the past 200 years, it still keeps the origin with nearly 140 small and large constructions. Apart from 10 main gates, it has an ancillary gate connecting the Tran Binh Bastion (Tran Binh Mon). There is a system of moats covering outside of citadel along with the canal are responsible for the protection and waterway transportation.
HUE IMPERIAL CITY
The second rampart of Hue Citadel is Hue royal city that was finished in 1833 under the reign of the Emperor Minh Mang. Royal City has many of temples and palaces, used mainly for ceremonial aims where tourists can figure out how people ready for the national rituals.
The rampart contains 4 main gates at 4 sides of the citadel. The most well known gate in this complex is Ngo Mon gate (Noon gate). When tourists get here, they are able to contemplate a typical architecture for most of them in Hue. It is the only one owning the highest value in the architectural ensemble of Nguyen Dynasty still existing today.

HUE FORBIDDEN CITY
Hue Forbidden City is the last rampart of Hue Citadel. There are seven gates along with tens of architectural constructions. People believe that this is a small universe of the Emperor and his’s family.
THE BEST TIME TO VISIT HUE CITADEL
Hue Citadel is opened all days in a week (from Monday to Sunday). The opening time and closing time in turns are at 6:30 am and 5:30 pm in summer and 7:00 am and 5:00 pm in winter. And the best time to visit here is about 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Tourist is comfortable to enjoy the whole without many people. Especially, from April 22th 2017, visiting this in the evening is ready.
